I have just recieved a mk1 that I will be doing into a vtec swap.
I will be getting the frame, engine, brakes, suspension and all other goodies in the package deal that minitec offers. I am thinking about going with the K series only for the coolness factor of the flip front. I just like the look.
I have the car sheduled to go to the soda blasters in about a week. I hope to have this project complete and on the road by spring.
More to come.

if you can afford the k series swap, looks are only half the factor. the k series has a better power band over the b series. also, down the road, if get "bored" you can easily bolt on a supercharger like meno. either way, keep us posted with your build.

What I like about the supercharged K over my B1800 is the linear application/feel of power that results from that broader power band. The kick of the VTEC is exciting (especially to newbies, who inevitably stop talking in mid sentence!) but the K is smoother.

Has there been a slip in the matrix or does someone have a stutter?
Look forward to seeing pictures!

Well I ordered my kit today.
I ended up with the K20 engine and fully assembled kit with the superbrakes, coil overs, radiator, and all that stuff.
I got the arches, flip front, brake pedal set up, and dash.
NICE!!!!
more to come.

Got the 1275 out tonight. Front wings and sub frame are coming out/off tomorrow.
Soda blasters friday if all goes well.
Travis - the K20A is large. Good for you. Did you keep the six speed or did you go to the five speed tranny? Post some pics of progress to date...it's practically porn for this group.

With proper tuning the VTEC crossover of a b-series can be just as smooth as the K-series and without proper tuning the i-Vtec crossover of the k-series can be just as harsh as the b-series... before I fine tuned my RSX with a hondata ecu the front wheels would break loose on the cam crossover in first gear...

Got the Mini back from the Soda Blasters today. Man is it clean. I will post pics of the entire thing in a couple of days, befores and afters.
There was bondo on the entire bottom 6 inches of the drivers side doors. Good thing I have new skins, sills and a-panels going on. The A panels arn't really bad to be honest but I have already recieved them so what the heck. I want this thing to be 100% rust free.
Car is going to get the the spray in bedliner on the whole bottom next week and get primer/sealer also.
My engine package should be here from MiniTec in a couple of weeks.
Need to find out what and where the "tubbed" rear wheel work needs to be for the extra lowering as mentioned on Minitec's site. NJ should be able to tell me/ show me pics....NJ.....NJ... you here?

Well I made a deal at a local paint/body shop to sand/seal the entire car inside and out. They have also agreed to let me store it in their business while my mechanic and I (mostly him) do the major work to the body and install the Minitec kit.
They have a lift and every tool known to body/paint guys and have pretty much given me access to it all. Really good group of guys there.
Tomorrow the new door skins go on if everything goes well and friday we shoot for the sills.
They will be sealing them as soon as there on the car too.
Still waiting on my wheels/tires/seats/rear valance/dash and other bits and bobs and have also decided to get an entire boot lid (fibreglass).
The current one had some bondo on it but when removed, the hole in the steel was about the size of a pencil eraser. Not big but not perfect either.
More later.

Travis - I was out of town for a couple of days. Rats! That's one thing I don't have decent pictures of, as it was done @ MiniTec. When you look at the wheel housing from the top, you see how it turns down to meet the rear quarter panel at an acute angle? Essentially, they "straighten it out" to hit the quarter panel at more of a 90º intersection, and enlarge the opening to suit.
The patches are bondoed and primered. I filled voids with expanding foam and cut them back, smooth. In the picture with the puff of foam, you're looking at the intersection of the left rear housing and the rear bulkhead from inside the car. In the other, you're looking in the boot on the right side. There, left-to-right, you see red, hint of black, then gray primer/bondo. The first line is the edge of the housing, the second is a ridge of Bondo. The nut is holding the top of the flare.

Norman can tell you more and maybe supply some pics if they have one in the shop.

The pics are as big as they come. I took them with my camera phone and did not realize that they cant be larger. Sorry. I did take several with my dig camera. I just need to load them onto my comp.
NJ. I spoke with BJ friday. He is gonna send me an e-mail with some good photos of tubbed rear wheels in progress.
Looking at your gives me a good idea of what needs to be done. Thanks.

I hope not. They used Meno's car as the R&D car and have learned alot I am told. I know that the shock towers have been upgraded.
If I have a problem I'm sure the Royston lads will take care of it.

Shifter Mounted. Works perfectly. REALLY happy with it.
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h197/kraneguy/ShifterMounted.jpg
Autometers FINALLY showed up.
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h197/kraneguy/DSC00904.jpg
Loads more of pictures.
I will tell you somthing that really sticks out on my car (pic coming next week), A Red Powder coated valve cover on a K20 is nothing like on a B series. There is alot more surface area on a K series valve cover.
You'll see what I mean.
