As you can see, our site is new and different; the old site was lost due to corupted files. Please take the time to update your profile pages, and replace or add new pictures to your personal galleries. We lost a few features, and gained a few, so it will take some getting used to. One feature I have found helpful in finding current or un-read posts, is the color of the square icon at the head of each topic. if it is gray, it has been read by you, if it is blue, there has been a new (un-read) post made, so scanning for new posts is very easy. Also, clicking on a persons screen name provides a drop down menue for use in finding his personal profile, with photo gallery, email, or private messaging, etc.
I have re built my own photo gallery, adding a few new pictures, divided between two albums, one for our kit photos, and the other for my personal build pics, so there will be no confusion between what is in the kit and what is not.
As for Avatars, I don't see a way to add them yet; I have contacted Shon, our site administrator, and hopefully we will get this feature activated shortly.
Thanks, and I hope to see your photos up again soon.

The part about the color of the "go to last post" icon doesn't hold true on my computer. They're all blue, regardless of my having read them or not (?!).

NJ, It might be something to do with your settings. I'm talking about the topic Icons for the page that comes up when you click "forums"

you should be able to add an avatar.
click settings (upper right hand corner)
browse for the "my settings" field
click "edit avatar"
please let me know if this doesn't work for you

I already tried that Shon, When I get to the Avatar edit, there is a circle that is checked, saying "do not use an Avatar". and "if you have a custom avatar, selecting this option will delete it". I tried un-checking the circle, but I couldn't. I don't see anywhere else to add an avatar. It's no big deal though for me.
Thanks for the reply.

Ditto on the avatar.
Dumped cookies; RE: "Topic icons", I take it you mean the little squares at the upper left of each thread on the first page. Got it. All gray except the one for this thread.
I reset to "newest post first" and returned to this thread......still "oldest first".
Sorry if I seem obtuse, but I'm IE, not IT and I struggle with geekspeak even as a third language.

Those icons don't work consistantly for me now either. I did figure out that if I double click on a blue one, it turns gray(as a read post). I don't see anything about dumping cookies, don't know what that is anyway. What's "IE"?, Internet Expert? I'm "IT", Internet Tortured. I never learned to type properly either; only thing that touches the keyboard is my right index finger, except when I use my left to push the capitalize button.

Shon advised me to delete the cookies on my computer, so it would go back to this site directlyand notbe confused with any cookies left by the old site. There's a place that can be accessed from the "control panel" that allows you to delete Temporary Internet files (all the crap that you bring in - mostly images - that eventually slows down the time it takes to load what you want to see now) the history of what sites you've visited ("browsing history") and "cookies" the little electronic bits that internet sites drop in your computer to let them recognize you automatically when you go back to them.... (a trail of cookie crumbs, if you will...nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
That would be "Industrial Engineer".
As for typing, I use the Columbus Method...find a key and land on it.
Steve, as the Motel 6 ads put it, we come from a simpler time, when we all had the same ringtone, and it sounded like...the phone!

Ok, the "browsing history" thing; I delete that about once a week. Thanks for that. I still have the regular ring tone on my phones, just have to turn it up to the Max setting nowdays. still have one phone with the round dial and finger holes too. Don't have a portable phone yet, but last week at the airport, I couldn't find a pay-phone that worked, so looks like I will have no choice soon.
Cheers.

depending on your browser, when deleting history, it may not delete your cookies. what browser are you using?

I'm not sure what the browser is. My provider is netzero and I use their search button to find stuff.
