I finally found that guy that designs a turbo that mounts in the rear of vehicle. Of coarse more research has to be done but it looks like it might be able to fit in between the rails on the back sub-frame. This could also help to balance the vehicle.

first off, have you ever been in and/or driven a 200hp+ VTEC Mini?

You could sell tickets
Tavis:
Get it done, &running - worry about the performance latter
--> Unless You go B-series, then just get a C5 & you're done.

I am more in love with the idea and the noise it makes to be honest. There is some people out there doing all kinds of weird, funky and unpractical ways to add a turbo to the VTEC Minis. Me personally, I don't think I would ever do this. To me having 135 to 145 HP is plenty and anything more is a waste IMO. I would love though to see everyones faces however as they stare at bewilderment at this little Mini going down the road with a high pitched accelerating whine then have the sound of a gun shot going off as the waste gate opens  :mryellow:.
Just an idea for those wanting to go the turbo rout.
On the other side, the last thing I want is to have a Mini sounding like the typical Honda Civic, Pep Boys, high school, boy racer or what ever they call themselves.
I did hear a S2000 going down the road once that sounded incredible and sounded like nothing I ever heard before- but there was no way to catch him in a 70 HP Mini to ask him what he had.

You could plug in a SoundRacer and make V8 noises through your ICE.
the sts kits are nice, ive rode in a few sts powered 5.3/auto chevy trucks, a single cab and a ext cab one, 5.3 v8 with a 4l60e with some mods done to it, they were in the 450hp range ez, and the boost was nice when it kicked in
i was 90% their with the money to stick a sts kit on my old 00 gmc ext cab, and stick a 4l80e into it at the sametime,
i was looking at about 6g's for the kit plus tranny and t/c, tune and other small mods that would have been needed,
but something else came up and it didn't happen
having the turbo in the back, makes the pipeing for the kit act as a somewhat inner cooler
i could only image what a small turbo could do on a vtec mini, it would be crazy for sure

How was the turbo lag?
had me sold, it was pretty nice, with the turbo in the back, i was thinking it was gonna be slow to boost but it was good
ive heard people saying they are slower to boost then front mounted turbo's but the only turbo vehicle ive rode in
that had front mounted was a single cab 6.6 d-max and the rear mount to me was faster to boost then that d-max
but to me, the d-max boost slow
but i would think if you had the right turbo to match your engine, it would boost at the rpm you wanted it to

Turbos are kind of like cams, in the respect that they need to be sized for the RPM range of expected use, and the amount of power required. A small Turbo will have less lag than a larger one, but will tend to clog up the system at higher revs, becoming less efficient than a larger(later boost) turbo will.
