A few D-series variants are labelled "ZC" (usually JDM), but they are not truly a different series. There are both SOHC and DOHC ZC engines. The SOHC ZC is similar to the D15Z4 and D16A6 engine, and the DOHC ZC is similar to the D16A1, D16A3, D16A8 and D16A9 engines.

Euro Mk1 (85-87) 1.6 CRX's are fitted with an engine designated "ZC1" which is a higher spec 120 bhp version of the D16a1.

There seems to be varying opinions on the weights of the Vtec engines. Has anyone compared the weights of the various Vtec engines to the Mini's A series?

yes, a detailed weight spec in a previous post. bottom line, the b-16 weighs 102 pounds more than a 1275 A series, comparably equiped. In other words you will gain 102 pounds with the B if you don't do any mods. A list of mods with weights are included in the specs. I got mine down to about 20 pounds over stock so far; check out the post; I think it is titled "weight comparisons".

That's great info on the B series, Steve. Does anyone know the weight of the D-series? I've read claims that it could be as much as 50 lbs lighter than an oem mini's A-series. I hope this is correct. What's the verdict?
