I am trying to figure out if my engine RPM is wired correctly. Since I have been finding wiring problems everywhere on this car I bought I dont trust the engine RPM and I dont want to push it in case there is not rev limiter. I have a B series engine with a LS trans and 175/50R13 tires. Can someone with something close to my combination tell me what engine RPM they are running at 60mph? I suspect that my engine RPM is actually reading half of what it is (gauge things its a v8). Thanks.

Most tachometers have a switch to make them read for 4, 6, or 8 cyl engines. What kind of tach do you have? You can probably find a manual from the manufacturer online to tell whether it's set up properly.

if it's autometer there should be 3 wires on the back that one must cut 2 of them for it to work properly on 4 cylinders.
60mph should be between 3-3.5k
Mine did 75mph at 4k.

OK, as I suspected mine is reading at half. Mine have Cyberdyne gauges in it. I tried to located the installation instructions on their website without any luck. I was able to find more into on summitracing.com. I also emailed them to see if they could send me the installation/calibration instructions. Now I just need to figure out my fuel gauge. I think it was never calibrated either since it only reads full or empty (no in between).

ok I just found the info I needed from egauges.com they had the calibration instructions. One thing I do need for the fuel gauge is the volume of the tank, which I don't know.

If it's the standard Mini tank on a later model, (protrudes slightly over the spare in the tire well) it's 8.4 gallons.

Tank volume doesn't matter to the sender, A tall skinny tank or a short fat one can have the same volume but the sender will read vastly different levels on the gauge, due to the float travel range variation. use your Mini sender in your Mini tank; the electrical esistance at full and empty are similar to most gauge senders, so calibration should be simple. you can set it at empty when the tank is dry, and it will likely be close enough at the other end of the scale.

what are my options to bring the engine rpm down at highway speeds (other then tires)? I am hoping to get better MPG when I am not driving the piss out of it.

I never check my Engine RPM.A tall skinny tank or a short fat one can have the same volume but the sender will read vastly different levels on the gauge,It's best to have search engine optimization (http://www.firstwebhosting.net/online-marketing.html) team .I am really interested in and I also suggested you and I really in need of such things. due to the float travel range variation. use your Mini sender in your Mini tank; the electrical esistance at full and empty are similar to most gauge senders, so calibration should be simple. you can set it at empty when the tank is dry, internet phone service (http://www.firstwebhosting.net/voice-over-ip.html)I was able to find more into on summitracing.com. with my setup, at 70mph i'm at around 3200 revs.
please refer to the link below for a rather useful speed vs. rpm graph. you are able to input exact specs of your setup.
